7. Emergency Services Disclaimer
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
The SOS emergency features provided by this App are supplementary communication tools designed to assist users in distress situations by facilitating communication through satellite networks. These features are NOT a substitute for official emergency services (such as 911, 112, 999, or other local emergency numbers).
SOS Emergency Features Description:
- SOS Message (with Location): When activated, the App obtains the user's current GPS coordinates using high-accuracy mode, composes a message containing "SOS!" and a Google Maps link (https://maps.google.com/?q=latitude,longitude), and transmits it via the Tiantong satellite network to the pre-configured emergency contact. The recipient can tap the link to view the sender's exact location on a map.
- SOS Voice Call: When activated, the App initiates a satellite voice call to the pre-configured emergency contact via the Tiantong satellite terminal.
- Location Freshness: The App considers a location valid only if obtained within the last 5 minutes. GPS position is automatically refreshed every 6 minutes. Coordinates are recorded with 6 decimal places of precision (approximately 0.1 meter accuracy).
Disclaimers:
- No Guarantee of Delivery: Satellite communication is subject to signal availability, weather conditions, geographic obstructions, network congestion, and other factors beyond our control. The Company cannot guarantee that SOS messages or calls will be successfully delivered or received.
- No Guarantee of Location Accuracy: GPS coordinates are obtained from the device's built-in location services and are subject to inherent inaccuracies due to signal quality, environmental factors, hardware capabilities, and other variables.
- Not a Replacement for Professional Emergency Services: The SOS features transmit distress signals to user-configured personal emergency contacts only. The App does not connect directly to professional emergency response services (police, fire, ambulance, etc.). Users are strongly advised to also contact local emergency services directly when possible.
- User Responsibility: Users are solely responsible for configuring a valid emergency contact number, ensuring satellite device connectivity and signal, granting location permissions, and verifying location accuracy.
- Service Prerequisites: SOS features require a functioning Tiantong satellite terminal device, active satellite service subscription, adequate satellite signal coverage, and a valid emergency contact number configured in the App.
- No Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the SOS emergency features.
